Abstract:
The aim of the present work is to measure continuous volumetric displacement fields in a glass epoxy at the micro scale. A high-resolution desktop X-ray microtomograph is used to acquire images. In practice, in this situation, one has usually to face two major issues. Firstly, the recorded texture in the polymer resin is usually flat. A contrast medium is therefore added at the manufacturing step to create a random pattern in the matrix. Secondly, the size of the images, and consequently the number of degrees of freedom, may become prohibitive for Finite Element based Digital Volume Correlation techniques. It is then proposed to resort to a recent proper generalized decomposition based digital volume correlation scheme.
